Perfil profesional:

Short (really!) personal history: I worked as a graduate student at the Neuroimaging Section of the Department of Psychiatry at the University Medical Centre Utrecht in Utrecht, the Netherlands. My thesis was about structural brain abnormalities in depressed elderly.

After obtaining my thesis i went looking for the sun and ended up as a post-doctoral investigador at the Laboratorio de Imagen Medica (LIM) and Unidad de Adolescentes (UA) at the Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Marañón in Madrid (Spain), under supervision of Prof. Desco (LIM) and Prof. Arango (UA).

My current research focuses on structural brain changes in children and adolescents with psychiatric disorders (early-onset psychosis, Asperger, autism, bipolar disorder). To this end we use T1-weighted Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) scans and specialized software (SPM, FSL, FreeSurfer etc.) to quantify brain morphology in patients and healthy controls. We are conducting cross-sectional and longitudinal neuroimaging studies to map brain changes over time.
